GoalsElectrosynthesis is a valuable, easily-scalable, and low-cost method of crystal synthesis. Through the use of a power source, either potentiostatic or galvanostatic, the voltage or current can be finely tuned to deposit material with controlled microstructure, morphology, and stoichiometry. However, this is no easy task because each system requires extensive optimization of countless variables. When done correctly, electrosynthesis can yield single crystals with large facets within synthesis times of 1-7 days. |
